Mission of One Human Community

The mission of One Human Community is to support education of underprivileged children and inspire the love of reading in order to prevent and eventually, permanently relieve poverty.

One Human Community was founded to relieve poverty during the transition to the “new” economy while high unemployment and home foreclosures were devastating the community. As time passed, the Founder of One Human Community, Avo Keshishyan focused on relieving poverty. Today, the mission of One Human Community is to support education of underprivileged children and inspire the love of reading in order to prevent and eventually, permanently relieve poverty in San Fernando Valley, CA.

With five years of experience fighting and relieving poverty Avo realized that:
• chronic poverty is usually caused by lack of education
• prosperous future can be secured with good education

Since children of families that live at – or below – poverty level often don’t have educational support at home, supporting children education by providing the right tools and inspiring the love of reading by providing access to books to underprivileged children is the way to prevent and eventually, permanently relieve poverty.

ADDENDUM: Any community – One Human Community included – is a living entity and as such subject to evolution. Feedback from the Website and community members caused us to expand our mission by adding books and reading as a remedy for social isolation, an opportunity for creating groups focused on reading as well as an inter-generational dialog.
